Madrasa Pathways

Bridging Traditional Islamic Learning and Academic Scholarship

At American Islamic College (AIC), we are proud to support students from traditional Islamic educational backgrounds—such as ʿĀlimiyyah and Darul Uloom programs—through a dedicated Madrasa Pathways track. This track is designed to prepare students for success in graduate-level academic settings while honoring the strengths of their prior learning.

Step One: Apply for Admission to AIC

If you have completed a traditional Islamic studies program and are interested in pursuing a graduate degree in Islamic Studies, the first step is to apply for admission through the Madrasa Pathways track.

Admission Requirements

  • Completion of a traditional Islamic studies program (e.g., ʿĀlimiyyah or equivalent)
  • Application form and personal statement (written independently)
  • Interview with admissions staff or faculty
  • Referral or recommendation (optional but encouraged)

Start your Application Here

*If we do not currently have a formal partnership with your madrasa, we may still consider you for admission. Please ask your madrasa to contact AIC to initiate a curriculum review and determine eligibility for the Madrasa Pathways program.

Step Two: Complete the Madrasa Pathway to Academia Certificate

Summer Intensive | July 20 – August 21
Format: Online | Tuition: $1000

All applicants admitted through the Pathways track are required to complete this five-week certificate program prior to enrolling in MA or MDiv coursework. This certificate is designed to bridge the gap between traditional Islamic education and Western academic expectations.

Note: Completion of this certificate does not guarantee full admission to the graduate program. Students must complete it successfully and demonstrate academic readiness.

Certificate Program Features

Schedule: Sunday–Thursday

  • In-class instruction: 3 hours/day
  • Independent study: 4–5 hours/day

Delivery: 100% online

Courses Included:
