Why American Islamic College?

AIC’s undergraduate program, well rounded and grounded in a solid Liberal Arts & Science framework, prepares you for more than just a career; it prepares you for a life of purpose and impact. Careers in government, education, international relations, law enforcement, foreign service, diversity and inclusion, translation, social service administration, chaplaincy, spiritual care and religious leadership, military, international business or relief work, further graduate or professional study and many other fields will be within reach with an AIC bachelor’s degree. Statistics show that these occupations will continue to be in high demand in a changing world. Apply now!

To add to this, an AIC degree is one of the best values in American higher education. Beginning this fall (2020), AIC will be offering 12 Ibn Khaldun Entrance-Year Scholarships – full tuition for first-year B.A. degree applicants who show academic promise, drive, and a desire to make a difference in the world. These scholarships are competitive, so be sure to have your application in by or before Friday, June 3, if you want to be considered for a 2022/23 Ibn Khaldun Scholarship. Students of all backgrounds and all faith traditions are encouraged to apply.

Students maintaining satisfactory academic progress by the end of their first academic year, will be eligible for ongoing federal and state grant assistance. So do not let the cost of a college degree keep you from applying!

New to AIC?

We are an up-and-coming American-Muslim university that upholds the timeless tradition of holistic, relationship-based education, in which the student is not only known by name; he/she is known. This means small class sizes and personal attention from your professors. This also means a commitment to your flourishing even after you graduate. We strive to transform as well as inform, to be faithful to our values and intellectual traditions as we celebrate diversity and encourage critical thinking, respectful debate, and meaningful engagement with society and all faith traditions.

Some facts you should know:

AIC achieved formal Candidacy Status for accreditation with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) North Central Region in February, 2020. This means that our undergraduate and graduate degree programs have been scrutinized and affirmed for their quality and rigor. It also means that your AIC degree will be taken seriously wherever your path takes you…in the US or in the wider world.

AIC has already graduated its first classes of BA and MA students, and many of our graduates have gained admission to graduate study and/or obtained professional employment as university graduates. In addition, AIC’s MDiv and Muslim Chaplaincy graduates are now being placed in prestigious institutions as Muslim chaplain interns.

Throughout the year, AIC hosts numerous interfaith programs, public lectures, film screenings, and major professional meetings. Our students are encouraged to attend as many of these enrichment experiences as they can and to see these events as extensions of their classroom education.

AIC students engage in community service work all over Chicago, because being part of the solution is a core value shared by faculty, staff, and students alike.

AIC’s faculty members travel the world, research and publish their academic work, offer presentations at professional meetings, win prestigious grants, and network with academics and other professionals from around the country and across the globe—all the while educating and mentoring our students to live faithfully and thoughtfully as they find their places and make unique impacts in whatever fields they choose.

Come check us out and consider that history is not just about the past; it’s what we make.
